Christopher Makepeace

Senior Specialist, C.E.T.


Chris Makepeace has over thirty years experience in the area of building science and is considered one of the leading authorities on the performance of aluminium and glass curtainwall and sloped glazing systems. Chris has an extensive background both in the practical and theoretical aspects of building science.

Chris served as a project manager for Pilkington Glass Ltd. where he supervised the day to day installation of glazing systems on major office towers. Chris then worked as a project manager and inspector for a large architectural firm where he oversaw the construction on some of Edmonton’s most prestigious buildings. Prior to joining Building Science Engineering Ltd, Chris was Manager of Walls and Windows at Alberta Infrastructure where he evaluated the design of proposed projects and advised on the resolution of problems in existing buildings.

Chris has written a number of papers on building science and glazing issues. Chris has made presentations to the Alberta and British Columbia Building Envelope Councils, Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, University of Alberta, Alberta Glass Trades Association, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Canada National Research Council and PCL Constructors.
